Arlington and Medford are vibrant communities. We volunteer our time, energy and money because we know that government cannot provide for all of our needs. I join with my neighbors in those volunteer activities, taking a leadership role in many.

Sustainable Arlington
I helped Sustainable Arlington get off the ground, and remain an active participant in the effort to improve our environment and save local government money. We helped Arlington convert its traffic control lights and street lights to more energy efficient devices, saving Arlington over $100,000 annually in energy costs. We coordinate Arlington’s participation in the International Council on Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI) and its Cities for Climate Protection program.

Stand for Children, Arlington chapter

Stand for Children seeks to make children and their needs a higher political priority. We need to invest in our children now – in their education and enrichment from pre-school through high school, their health, and their safety – to ensure they have a fair chance in life and to create a better future for our communities.

Greater Boston Interfaith Organization

The Greater Boston Interfaith Organization (GBIO) is a broad-based organization which works to organize the communities of Greater Boston across all religious, racial, ethnic, class and neighborhood lines for the public good. It was the powerful voice that helped motivate the legislature to enact comprehensive health care reform in the last legislative session

Mystic River Watershed Association
The Mystic Lakes and the Mystic River are in the center of my legislative district and I am an active supporter of the Mystic River Watershed Association. I work closely with the staff and have helped with grant writing for new programs, speak at MyRWA programs and rolls up my sleeves on river clean-up days.

Spy Pond Committee of Vision 2020
I grew up on the shores of Spy Pond and am committed to restoring its health and beauty. I dream of the day when Spy Pond is safe for swimming and work with volunteers to improve the water quality and stabilize the pond’s shores against erosion.
